November 8, 2008 at 6:59 PMIt's so fun to see the faces behind the voices!
Connie, 我只有一个很小的问题想问一下。当时,你的爸爸为什么需要脱衣服才看到衣服上面画得画儿?没有镜子吗?Or did you brother draw on his back in that hard to see place between the shoulder blades? Or was it just so years later Chinesepod would be able to make this videopodcast and use that funny picture of someone stripping to illustrate the word 脱?;)

November 7, 2008 at 7:02 PMI don't think this lesson was too difficult for Intermediate High. It's definitely in between Intermediate and Advanced. It might have been a little more accessible if John had translated just a wee bit more during the dialogue breakdown portion--then again, if he had it would be Intermediate instead of Intermediate High.
The part where he said "It doesn't make any sense in English, but it makes sense in Chinese" made me laugh.

July 23, 2008 at 5:53 PMJenny made the point about "portion control, balance, and moderation" but I have to say that I taught lot of university girls in Chongqing, and I would often listen to them talk about their efforts to lose weight (not a single one of them could have broken 100 pounds), and the way they maintain the malnourished look is by not eating.
What did you have to eat today? "Oh, milk for breakfast. An apple for lunch. And I will have a cup of 刨冰 (shaved ice with fruit) for dinner."
Girls in Shanghai were considerably healthier looking.

July 17, 2008 at 9:22 PMI really liked this lesson! It gave me an idea for another lesson too--do I have to go over to the forums and put the suggestion in it's appropriate place? :) How about a couple for applying for visas and getting deported! Timely relevant material. hehe

May 9, 2008 at 10:17 AM我看过奋斗的1到17集可是不知道为什么越看越不想继续看下去。我总觉得里面的人物都好假。:( 可能因为我听北京话听得头疼。 呵呵

April 11, 2008 at 7:49 PMWow, I'm impressed by how many people from Detroit there are listening to Chinesepod! I know this will probably never ever happen because I'd be the only person who could comment afterwards, but it'd be fun to hear what you all have to say about Oklahoma. :) I always have SUCH a hard time explaining to Chinese people where Oklahoma is, I never manage to get to the part where I actually talk about what's "special" about it.

April 11, 2008 at 5:03 PMI'm not sure it's very nice of you to try to talk Jenny into watching it either. Preserve the happy undisturbed state of her mind. :)

April 11, 2008 at 5:01 PMlove this movie! that scene is definitely one of the most intense. But what were you talking about when you said this was the best before the director made a second film? Was there a sequel? (forgive me for my movie ignorance)
