That's an exact analysis. In addition, N. Korea abounds in underground mineral resources. I think the PRC is the only country that has the possibility of controlling N. Korea, which is sort of "It takes a thief to catch a thief" strategy. The best choice for the East Asia should be the annexation of N. Korea by the PRC.
In any case, South Korea has neither will/resolution nor ability/competence to achieve the unification of the Korean Peninsula. What is worse, infighting is one of deep-rooted traditions in Korean society. In this sense, bordering the PRC might be slightly less worrisome for South Korean than bordering the DPRK is, hehe.
