June 30, 2009 at 3:36 PMI liked the slower male voice in the dialogue and expansion section. Sower, slighthy "exagerated" diction is a good way to learn tones and difficult words.

June 30, 2009 at 1:10 PMAntepenultimate expansion sentence : "现在买这款笔记本电脑可以免费升级到1G，很实惠的". This is translated as "Right now you can upgrade this notebook computer to one gig. It is very worthwhile". I miss the "买" in this translation. I assume the idea is that you get the upgrade if you buy the computer now.

I was misled because I ended up "hearing" xiang instead of xiao. Difficult to tell when listening.

hutudan, I would think dialogue can reflect the speaker's conflicting ideas and misconceptions as well as established scientific truth. Put it another way, the tendency for Chinese people to (wrongly) assume their civilization is inherently different from other civilizations is part of the truth about the way Chinese people see themselves.
