April 21, 2013 at 6:39 PMI just did some more searching online, and I noticed something that others have surely noticed before me, which is that the most common translation for chop suey (杂碎), is different than chop suey. I noticed this by searching for pictures of the two.
So basically, I think that chop suey should have another Chinese name that would probably be unknown to most Chinese people, because the chow mein that is served in the US isn't in China, just like fortune cookies.
I found two other translations: 炒杂烩(chǎozáhuì), and 杂脍 (zákuài).
I have fun telling Chinese people about American-Chinese food. I think Chinese people also enjoy hearing about it, as if they're hearing about Chinese culture on another planet

April 21, 2013 at 6:21 PMwhat is the Chinese way to say "chop suey"? There are quite a few different ways online, so I don't know which one to learn

April 20, 2013 at 12:24 PM我想问一个问题:
这个周末上海有汽车展览会。 我听说很多活男人要去参观,不过他们不一定对车有兴趣, 他们大部分是想去看美女。 我今天发现汽车展览会的模特儿有一个特别的名称, 就是“车模”。 那么, 在其他的展览会有没有类似的名称?有没有什么“动漫模”啊,什么的?

April 20, 2013 at 12:06 PMthere's a mistake in the expansion section.
The sentence is "我比较崇拜鲁迅,他写得书我都看过. " It should be with a 的 instead of a 得. This seems to be the most common grammatical issue that Chinese people have when they write or type. 我听说鲁迅写的书都写得很好

April 20, 2013 at 6:00 AMthis year's meet up was really cool. I got to meet and chat with Vera, which was super cool. I also got to take a photo with Connie and chat with her for a while, which was awesome. I saw Jenny but we didn't have a chance to talk. The users that showed up all seemed really nice too. Great meet-up
