just remembered what it was...it was in a movie that was called "Suddenly 30" down under, but seems it was called "13 going on 30" elsewhere....Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo....and when they were at a party aged 13, she goes in the closet for 7 minutes of Heaven ...but it doesn't quite turn out as she planned.

"Seven Minutes in Heaven."

..oh that's right...I saw that in an American movie a while ago....I remember the story and the faces of the characters, but I can't recall the title for a sec

“not all share my identical nerdy interests.”

...actually I'm very interested....I just sometimes don't find time to follow all my interests. I find astronomy and the exploration of space fascinating.

...now off to check out your link

you sure about that Irish Rugby thing...come to think of it, I'm sure I've heard of Northern Irish players in the Irish team. I'm off to check mate.

yeah, there's the All-Ireland Gaelic Football and All-Ireland Hurling competitions....just confirmed on wikipedia, and these comps definitely include teams from Ulster. I'm still pretty sure I've seen All-Irish teams compete internationally though I'm not sure what in. But for starters, the Irish often send a Gaelic Footy team down under to play our Aussie Rules guys.

"this remains a political hot potato!"

..yeah, I knew it was a touchy subject. But I'm just an ignorant Aussie trying to clarify some basic stuff, not delving into politics and don't want to either. So who do Northern Irish players play for in Rugby then? ...I'm guessing the money's all in Southern England and so they go and play as part of the English side then. Still pretty sure I've seen all Irish teams at some stage...think it may have been in Gaelic Football or Hurling or something? I'll have to look into this. Hope I'm not upsetting any Irish Poddies with my curiosity...

" I think it's just a convenience thing - gets a bit tiring to keep saying Great Britain rather than just Britain"

...yeah, I thought someone might say that...I realised it could be just a shortening thing, but Im sure that was what I was taught as a kid...but perhaps it's just a furphy

oh, and also, can anyone tell me if there is or was a distinction between Britain and Great Britain? ...is it Wales that makes it Great, or am I wrong there?

"Olympic medal table on the BBC website it says GB & NI, which also supports the above."

..oh, interesting. I know Northern Ireland is part of UK, but I thought that Northern Ireland sometimes competed with the rest of Ireland, so you had an all Ireland team....what's the go here? can someone confirm that this is what happens sometimes..and if so, when?

Thanks Siteng. I was just contemplating this the other day, and how you rarely here the Chinese for Scotland or Wales. Thanks for posting all this. Interesting how 英国 can mean either Britain or UK. I grew up with the understanding that Great Britain referred to England, Scotland, and Wales, and that UK was Great Britain plus Northern Ireland, but I think even it's use in English now is somewhat blurred perhaps. I also have this notion that Britain was just England and Scotland, and it became Great when you added Wales, but I must confess I'm a little hazy on that now, and I'm under the impression no-one cares about it anymore.
