tvan,

bukerqi.I just found another tip with the photos. If the width is greater than 425 you can still use the photo.Just put in 425 for the width and estimate/calculate the proportionate reduction in the height and it will scale down the photo and fit it in ok.

changye,

That's very funny. When times get tough,it's great to have people who can make you laugh.

Sorry Jenny. But no need to feel that way;an easy mistake for a busy person to make. It's made for an interesting discussion and will be easier to remember now. Thanks again for the saying and please keep them coming. You do a fantastic job.

I thought the waitress was understandably a bit short as she was being treated as a suspect illegal immigrant.Fancy the rudeness of being asked for her passport !

[At least this would have been an understandable reaction if I'd been saying it and got my tones wrong ]

I love these Chinese sayings but was a little surprised by the rice coming first in the saying.A google search shows "i have eaten more salt than you have eaten rice" comes up 31 times cf 1 time with the saying the other way round.I must say I think this makes more sense ,particularly when rice is such a staple part of the diet in China.I think the saying is also referring to added salt [like from the shaker] and not to the salt that is naturally contained in foods.I think it's referring to volume,as usually rice has a lot more volume in a meal than salt. These days ,when people are more conscious of the health risks of too much salt ,I would have thought it an even more significant statement.

checkingoutchina,

Sorry 'bout that mate if I've caused any problems on your end.As I find the study of Chinese challenging, as some other topics raised have been of an adult nature[eg premarital sex],and as other posters appear to be adults I hadn't considered that young kids would be listening in.On the other hand my 6 year old listens in when I've got it playing in the car [so you're right ;there are young listeners],and it's amazing the vocab she's picked up.Like all forms of media I just wouldn't expose her to it if I thought it was inappropriate[which I thinks is pretty easy in this case as the topics for the DA show for example are pretty well set out,as opposed to listening to the radio where very inappropriate comments can be made without warning],and talk her through issues when she is exposed, say,at school.I monitor her internet usage, and if I wasn't doing that, would be much more concerned about other internet sites.Furthermore,I was certainly not raising it as something that I thought was favourable [and am sure CPod would not portray it in that way either;I think Amber deals with such topics very sensitively].Far from it.I think kids should be warned of the dangers of drugs when they reach an age they can understand. However every parents view on this will be different and I respect that as it's a sensitive topic.I am aware that different cultures and different countries have both different attitudes and stances on drugs [Netherlands for example comes to mind] and I was merely interested in this as I am in everything in life in China.

yavuzsoydan,

On the top right of the screen you'll find the help button.Click on that and look under technical help. There is a section there about displaying and writing Chinese characters. Here is a link to that page:

Hope this helps.

tvan,

That's right.A couple of things I think you may need  to make sure though.Get the url from the photo itself [by right clicking on the photo and going to properties for ie or I think it's copy link location for firefox] and not the url of the address bar .Also ,I think you need to put the dimensions in which can also be found in properties ,and the width can't be greater than 425.I hope this helps. But perhaps you are already doing this and still having probs? Yesterday I tried to put in a photo whose width was just under 425 ,but the height was 500 and it wouldn't accept it.
