Interesting the similarities btw jie4shao4 and jian4dao4 ,though I'm sure this is just a coincidence and there is no link.Does Chinese poetry use rhyming very often like Western poetry often does?

It was great to have the cultural insight into kuai4 so well explained;thanks.I can see how that could lead to cultural misunderstanding otherwise.

In the discussion of the dialogue Ken mentioned a contraction of  位 .I'm guessing this contraction is only in spoken Mandarin and not in written,[and probably not in Pinyin also?].Can anyone clarify this?
