It'd wanna be cool in both senses of the word, both for the heat, and the fact that it's apparently very expensive to enter this race .I think I was told registration alone costs about $3000USD or thereabouts.tvan, you should let us all know how you get on with doing a marathon in China.Good luck.

A time for gourds with the Irish tradition of Halloween only 3 days away [well granted gourds [pumpkins] were an American adaptation of this tradition].I've read that in China Halloween can be celebrated as either Teng Chieh or as the Feast/Festival of Hungry Ghosts. How common is it to celebrate this in China and is it more common in any particular region?

Hulu:

Can certainly see the hourglass shape Jenny was referring to and why the bing1tang2 hu2lu looks like it.

I was a little surprised by Jenny's mention of "kiwifruit" as I recalled it originally being called "Chinese gooseberry" and that it had originated in China and I thought the name was changed for marketing purposes outside of China only.Of course we're talking in English here and I'm sure there is a Chinese name for it.

ewong,

thankyou.so下 is like next,一 is one,次 is like next in  sequence ,見 is like see or meet.

Can anyone tell me what Amber says at the very end of each show?It sounds a little like zai4jian4 which is what I'm expecting except that it doesn't sound like zai4 at the start, only the jian4 at the end.Sounds  like shai itsa jian4 or something.

This was my favourite of the Hungry Traveller series so far.Just keeps getting better.Ken just can't help but be funny;"scientists would have to study this kind of individual"..lol.Fortunately I'm not up for scientific examination on this occasion. One of my most memorable meals ever was Peking Duck nearly 14 years ago.I still remember it like yesterday and it was in HK ,not even in Beijing.Delicious.The thought of Beijing kao3ya1 is enough to make me want to flap some Icarus type wings and head bei.

I loved all the background street noises. Also ,usually native speakers speak so fast that it's hard to catch it.So it was interesting to hear the drawn out chants of the street vendors.Great variety and reality that CPod brings to these lessons.Keep up the great work.Ganbei.
