Pete,

I think Lydia was referring to the intro at the top of this page:"be like Mike". Michael Jordan ,famous basketball player.

matt_c,

Well you've gotta be quick to be on that elite list Matt ! lol.Just after posting I guessed what I think may have happened.I was on FrenchPod yesterday and downloaded the new lesson for the day just after release.Lo and behold shortly after that it disappeared ! Couldn't find it under Me,Lessons or Search. I wondered if I'd accidentally stumbled on an old lesson. But it was Christmas themed and FrenchPod wasn't going Xmas last year.I came to the conclusion that they must have accidentally released a lesson that was meant to be released later in the week and then quickly retracted it.I'm now wondering if the same thing happened with this lesson yesterday.I could be wrong ,but this is the only conclusion I could come to.Otherwise it's a mystery.Feeling pretty privileged right now with my French lesson ahead of time.hehe

ps Don't know why my posts are displaying in bold and italics ,as they're not like that in my edit box.Perhaps it's a sign...

marcod ,

Broke your heart? Mate,if you are the man behind the art direction of all Praxis videos then you need a huge pat on the back.Even in this apparently least popular one,in my opinion there was still plenty of good stuff in there;it just needs a little fine tuning which can be expected when you're exploring a new style.I think it's a great idea that each series has it's own personality and style. And even if I didn't completely get the humour here [rare, because so many of the lessons are so funny],I appreciated that you were trying once again to make the learning fun.Didn't bother me that I didn't get it.Show me a comedian who is universally appreciated all the time.

xigua2,

Well that's a pretty neat trick ! How did you manage to post a comment 1 day ago to this lesson that was only released 8 minutes ago? Was there an advanced listening session for special guests? :)

Yeah;the way ren morphed into a part to be found in other characters was an eye-opener for me [and the highlight].I didn't know that and won't forget it now. While this video has proved unpopular,I think it's great that CPod continue to innovate/experiment and then show that they're willing to listen/improve.I think with editing and more content [yeah..don't forget that we can watch these video's over and over till we get it all,so don't think we have to catch it all first time] this could have been up to the usually very high bench mark CPod set.I'm not worried at all that this one video didn't meet everyone's expectations [that's got to be expected on a first attempt at some point if you're continuing to experiment].My only concern would be if CPod got discouraged from taking risks again.Keep innovating I say.Onward !

btw I am subscribed to everything ,so always go to the me section to look for the new lessons.Because this was a new show [yeah ,I knew it was coming sometime soon] I was thus not subscribed so nearly missed it.Is there a way to have you automatically subscribed to new shows so you don't miss it ? No big deal though.

changye,

喝闷酒 ....is that one word ? If so,what a gem ! Another example of how efficient Chinese can be anyway.Interesting how the men 闷 [my 3rd but I see the list goes up to 7 ] character can be the same but the different tones can give different meanings [though they seem somewhat related].Is this phenomenon very common? 'Cos it can happen the other way where you have the same pronunciation and tone ,but different characters.I thought this latter case was more common.

Classic domestic stuff [even if it is mundane].I'm the same ;even in winter I like the 窗 to be 开 and my folks were the same. It's nice to see [as well as the differences in cultures which is great] the similarities in folk around the world. So it seems to me that usually males want the windows open and the females don't.Are there many examples of the reverse out there?

lajiao,

Thanks for the video you posted.Quite funny and very brave of her.I like when she sat down at the bus stop between a couple of guys and they immediately hit the road [even though it was somewhat staged].Interesting insights anyhow.

Thanks also kesirui for your video which was entertaining.

longtao,

thanks for the slangy idioms.I'll have to remember those.I'd love to hear more of these idiomatic expressions in general.
