RJ,

So which one are you going to wear then, the yellow or the pink? Oh please do indulge us with a pic when you're donning your choice.

zhenlijiang,

Yeah, the green frogs were really lovely and used to come out after the rain and would sometimes appear on my windowsill.I think they're still about ,but it's just very rare to see them here in the 'burbs. This little fellow was the subject of a legal debate here as he's endangered and there was a major road that was planned through his habitat.I'll give you one guess who won.

Matt,

Yep.When youtube is up,if you get a chance, that link at 2m32s above shows another method of culling.

I too was surprised that Jenny knew about that movie. It reminds me of the reverse situation when I once quoted to a secretary a line from Apocalypse Now and she had no idea what I was talking about. It then dawned on me that the movie was from before her birth and made me feel old, hehe.谢谢 Jenny :)

Thanks martyang and light for the vids;well done.Light, maybe you should change your username to cool hand :)

The dialogue also reminded me of the situation when someone is just pretending the reception is bad, like in a recent scene from "Yes Man".Very funny.

I'm wondering about this sentence from the expansion:

麻烦拿一下那个

...and it's use of 拿 instead of 给

when the translation is:

(Could I trouble you to give me that?)

Before I read the translation I envisaged someone erecting a tent and asking someone to help by taking/holding a pole for a sec, something along those lines. Can someone please explain?

alexyzye,

...gotta be careful what you eat. There's the expression "cat got your tongue?" but I haven't heard of this one.

calkins,

I remember coming across this interesting topic of the different onomatopoeia for animal sounds in Chinese on an earlier CPod thread under the newbie lesson "farm animals" here. I love the green frogs but alas don't seem to see them around anymore like I did when I was a kid.But toads are still around occasionally and to hear what they sound like you could listen to this fascinating Aussie short film/doco from 1988 "Cane Toads:An unnatural history" at 7m15s here.Another sound they make at 2m 32s here. And in the end,no sound as for this poor female at 2m50s here.

John,

Plenty mate:

..reminds me of that photo from American Beauty [但是玫瑰花代替青蛙].Maybe 林峰 应该麻醉那个青蛙 before he passes out if he doesn't want to end up like in the pic.

hmm...lunchtime in Shanghai...

I think there is a distinction to be drawn between constructive critisism with an objective to nudge things to even greater heights, and negative and personal comments. The latter make me cringe.Sure Amber was/is wonderful ,but the great thing about CPod is the depth of talent they have in the whole team.I wouldn't want any 2 to be the same and think Jenny and the rest all have wonderful and charming individual personalities.CPod's lessons remind me a bit of watching Sergey Bubka polevault. He has raised the bar to world record heights and every time he falls just short, the crowd sigh.Gee,I wish I could pole vault.Jiayou.
