Bodawei and Pete,

"But 'hump' in Australian english is a verb"

...yeah,as bodawei and other Aussies would know you've gotta be careful how you use that one here as it can be used the same as "mount" is used at the end of this classic video here.

Oh man;I've been waiting all week for this one and I've finally had a chance to download and listen and I'm not disappointed.I love the bite John gets into his voice in the introduction when he says "fired" and "now what's he going to do"..lol.Great acting also, and classic scenario in this lesson. Can't wait for the next instalment.I also really appreciated the grammar question.Questions make one think and if you get the question right by yourself then you kind of own the answer, whereas if it's spoonfed, you can't be so confident it will stick or that you had it.So I'd encourage more such questions.Thankyou.

Recent article here discusses how a couple of people contracted rabies in Vietnam after butchering either a dog or a cat.

chanelle77,

Funny article;thanks. There used to be an advertising campaign with the jingo "feed the man meat"...and I can't see the men going for this one so you'll have to work on that."Jofu" anyone ?

In this sentence from the expansion:

多长时间

..why is chang2 used instead of jiu3?

Are they completely interchangeable or is there a difference in their usage?

This lesson reminds me of a scene from LA story [1991] where Steve Martin's character thinks his girlfriend is ready to go out but she continues with half an hour of "abstract busy-ness".I can't find that exact quote, but this is some of the dialogue that follows:

You look so ready that I get ready
and I get up and stand by the door,
and I stand there for minutes
until I realize you aren't ready.
So, I sit back down.
Then, I think you're ready again.
But I realize you just gave off
an illusion of being ready that I
interpreted as not being an illusion.
I'll be in the car.

I like this word 发誓 fā shì..to vow,to pledge,to swear...as it reminds me of the English .."for sure"...but someone saying it in an exaggerated/accented way...faa shir..
