马肉 may be the answer to the riddle of 肉泥。I think the clue also comes from the 泥 which is indicating that it is the grass mud horse that is used.

I wonder why donkey is more common?

I presume the Chinese medicine is no longer added to the dish.

When it comes to the different varieties of guilin mifen,it seems the "fen" is the thing that indicates it's a variety of Guilin mifen ,对不对？

粉...looks like an interesting character.It has the rice radical on the left.The right hand side of the character I'm not so sure whether it is acting purely as a phonetic or is there because of it's meaning...to divide....a grain of rice continually divided will become powder.Can anyone explain?

I like the pic of what looks like the Terracotta warriors [对不对？][which was from the Qin dynasty after all] with one holding his hand over his belly.I wonder if this legend really did signify generalised rice intolerance or perhaps it was travellers diarrhoea?

I have read that Guilin mifen is/has been often served with horse meat.How common is this?

I don't know if 作安 [which would be my way of saying to make peace] is a valid expression or not,but it's interesting that going from 1st to 4th tone on the "an" gives almost an opposite meaning 作案 。。to commit a crime,though if 陈瑶 is cleared of this heinous crime then perhaps she will finally have some peace from this tyrant husband.

Excellent dialogue.I hope this signifies the start of another series.Certainly legal courtroom dramas ,esp a murder case,is an excellent foundation for an entertaining series.I can see why Lao Wang hasn't headed to the courtroom.Not only is he dealing with his situation in a more Chinese manner as Jenny has pointed out,but to do a case justice,the language involved is going to be more in the advanced category.Good response CPod.We have our courtroom drama and a better response to Lao Wangs situation to boot.

hehe,yeah,another wonderful word in 蛛丝马迹;love it,especially the spider thread part,but also the fact they've given two examples to drive home the point.
