I loved this whole episode from start [with the blurred vision nicely tying in with last episodes head butt] to finish,but once again the finish was especially good.Still amused after watching it several times now.The menu stealer is definitely getting crafty;you couldn't see the menu sticking out of his jacket this time,and he did it right under their eyes.I had to rewind myself to catch it.The shaking hands was a nice touch.He's definitely got style.Can't wait for the next instalment.Having escaped once this should definitely be interesting.Well done team.

The steamy kitchen link is great too.Well worth checking out.Lots of great tips and explanations about the ingredients.

Thanks for correcting my attempted translation.In the first line I still can't hear the ending as 我菜单的,which is what I was expecting it to be.I just seem to be hearing that plus a couple of extra syllables.Is it just me hearing things?

鱼香肉丝 is interesting as it looks like a fish dish at first glance.Literally fish fragrance meat shredded.So the last two characters refer to the shredded pork.Is there a fish sauce in the recipe,or is cabbage and onion meant to smell like fish?

How could one go past 口水鸡，as long as were taking it in good faith that they are describing the desired effect and not the ingredients?

Thanks.Yeah,I had just found 单人 and  双人 on wikipedia ,but it doesn't seem to give anything for the larger sizes.Perhaps larger beds are a new luxury in China??

Thanks for getting back to me on that one.I'm not surprised that they don't use King/Queen,etc,but I'm a little surprised that they don't have a name for different standard sizes and just describe in terms of feet.I presume the feet measurement refers to the width as most beds don't vary too much in their length.I wonder what the standard widths are,and whether they approximate the 5ft Queen and 6ft 4in King.

Thanks guys.Sounds pretty much like in the west then.Lu for road and jie for street but quite a variation in what constitutes a road vs a street and not precisely defined.

So is there a distinction in meaning between 路 and 街 ? Does the former refer more to roads [larger] and the latter more to streets,or are they interchangeable?

Is 都市  for larger cities than 城市?

So I note this 大床 refers to a large single bed [very funny scenario in this lesson btw..another great dialogue].So do Chinese hotels have equivalents of Queen and King Size beds [and if so are they the same dimensions?],and if so how do you say them?

Yeah,I like those near/far,real/virtual comparisons.

Perhaps "initial" was a poor choice of words.I suppose I meant his trip to China referred to in the first line,as opposed to his return journey referred to in the poems title.But I may still be missing your meaning here.Of course the physical travel is not the major journey here.I'm sure it is the spiritual journey that matters most.Anyhow,thanks mate.

If they're going to call Mumbai "Mengmai" you'd think they would have made it 梦买,the place where you can buy your dreams [at least for the cost of a Bollywood movie ticket].
