zheng4zhi4gu4wen4..?political advisor...spin dr
mei2ti3gu4wen4...?media advisor...spin dr
I have no doubt both political advisors and media advisors have great talent at being spin dr's,but do those terms really specifically mean spin dr? Calls to mind the "yes minister" series, hehe. :)

哈哈,妙的文字游戏.经常是“机不可失,时不再来”
在英文有一个词语“lucky in love".在中文可以说?: 性幸,或者。。幸性,或者。。。。幸在性?
爱情有幸
爱情有幸,性无幸

July 25, 2009 at 10:32 PMHey Lee,cool to hear another Poddie interview.Jiayou mate.I'll have to check out the girly talk lesson,'cos I think I've heard it recommended before as well.Yangzhou, just north east of Nanjing sounds worth a visit.I mean a place famous for its masseurs must be pretty cool.
I'm particularly interested in the upcoming Media lesson. If only I could follow such an interesting topic. Will someone like Zhenlijiang be brave and kind enough to rise to the occasion and transcribe it?

How about using 摆?。。to swing
摆医生。。??..spin dr
或者。。or
摆龙门阵..spin a yarn
摆龙门阵医生...??spin dr
...hmm,probably not. There's probably a completely different expression that means the same but doesn't contain spin or dr.

July 27, 2009 at 3:54 AMWhy would John be worried about a day of girly talk? I hear he's pretty good at it,hehe ;)
So,just to clarify how the 大姐 [dàjiě] in this dialogue would address her sisters:
Does:
二姐 in this dialogue equate to 三妹【sānmèi]...3rd youngest sister?
三姐 equate to 二妹[èrmèi]...2nd youngest sister
B equate to 小妹【xiǎomèi] ..youngest sister? or do you use 妹妹【mèimèi]...for youngest sister?
..or is the counting the other way around?
talking about universal whoa's,wa's,wow's [I agree...perhaps it has something to do with the expression on the face when one is surprised],I've noticed the same with words for mum, dad, and baby to some extent.
