Ah thanks for that.I wondered about that,but I tell you what else needed to be fixed..my Chinese perakun rollover.Occasionally inexplicably it just doesn't work,and when I went to check if bridge was actually in there it wouldn't work.I could have double checked by using mdbg,but I was in a bit of a hurry and ended up presuming it was right.Yeah I must have missed that discussion about the MW,so thanks for explaining.

This sentence from the expansion intrigues me:

"在海上建造一座几千米长的跨海大桥，真是太不可思议了。"

with its translation given as:

"Building a bridge thousands of meters across the ocean is really just inconceivable"

..for a couple of reasons:

We have:

座..being given as a measure word.I presume this is a measure word for bridges.Is it used for other structures related to transport,as it looks like the verb zuo[to ride] also?

Then we have:

跨海大桥

..being translated as:

"to cross the ocean" in the rollover.So I suppose that if you are going to build something that is going to cross the ocean then it's pretty much inferred that it's a bridge.

So what intrigues me most is that if we have something like a bridge that is inferred but not directly stated in the sentence [unless there is something missing in the translation],that we still use a measure word for this implied structure.Can anyone shed any light on this?

I also like this word from the expansion:

保密

At first I thought it was going to be:

包密..meaning to wrap up your secret.I liked that concept.But I see it's actually:

保密..meaning to protect your secret.I am struck once again by the similarity in meaning between these homonyms [wrap up..wrap your arms around vs protect].Has anyone else noticed that?

I'm often touched by either the wisdom or the sweetness of the expansion sentences.How's this one?:

儿女是父母永远的牵挂，你走到哪里，父母的心就跟着到了哪里。

Does CPod make these up,or are they well known wise sayings? Regardless I think they're great.It's also great to see how these sentiments are expressed in Chinese.

Hey I recall a couple of weeks ago or so they skipped a N&F for a week.Doesn't look like one's coming out today either.Is it going to be every 2nd week from now on? Can't quite recall the specifics of what was announced in that regard.

You did ask for feedback and sorry it's coming so slow,but at 10m59s I'm hearing:

作用还有活动能力

instead of:

作用或者活动能力

And at 11m27s I think the blank might be:

新人..new age person [using a new word]

straight after 非常：

非常新人

and straight after that it sounds like:

严臭

..but that doesn't make sense,so it can't be right.hmm.

I think the question mark at 11m29 secs is for 不过。

At 12m16secs:

那我要特别感谢徐州

this..徐州..is David which at the start is

徐洲..

but I have no idea which is correct.

At 13m20s I wondered if:

还是接快乐？

..was meant to be:

还是见快乐？

I thought it was

这个网站的题目

。。when I first listened before I saw your translation.Also interesting that both make sense.

..yep.I completely agree with your first comment.I think the measure word should always be there when learning new vocab.

As for your second comment.I don't know if I'm right or not,but it makes me think two things.Firstly it reinforces what I've heard before that while ge is not always the correct measure word,it is the generic one and that you will be understood if you use it ,so when in doubt use ge.Secondly,it reminds me of how many native speakers you meet everyday whose English is far from perfect,even with basic stuff.Usually reflects educational level,so there is no reason to believe this is going to be different elsewhere.I suppose there is always the possibility this person was not a native Mandarin speaker too.
