I can't comment on the subtle shades of meaning in the Chinese,but if you're still asking about the English also,the difference between "even if" and "even though" is that in the latter a fact has been granted/established and despite that fact blah blah blah,whereas in the former it is more of a hypothetical situation where one is saying no matter if this condition applies,such and such is still the case.My perakun rollover doesn't seem to draw such distinctions in the Chinese so my guess would have been that it will come down more to context.

...he then worked out that he had to clear a good swathe of the audience who were going to be in the way of his other mirrors at the back of the stands.Did the trick in the end.At least that's what I heard.

..here you can see "even though" means despite...in spite of the fact that...
...if "although" had been used in this sentence it could have meant a little more "on the other hand"....thus that it was a significant detractor.

Sorry mate.I've no idea which sites are going to be blocked and which aren't.I think the surest way to see it will be to google the inventors name which is Guan Baihua which in google images here brings up dozens of pics of him with his bike.
