虽然那时饮食疗养比较简单,我还觉得他们可能吃几个食物种类当潜伏期，所以不太明显 【although in those times their diet was relatively simple,I still think they probably ate a few types of food during the incubation period,therefore not too obvious]
How did the Chinese figure out what herbs had which healing properties? Trial and error - and observation.

当然是【到底人知道】，但是还有这个问题：我们有什么证据那时他们知道？[of course it's doable [in the end people made the connection] but the question still remains: we have what evidence they knew in those times?]

...apparently originally from French meaning sea cucumber for those like me who didn't know.
I feel some irrational ownership. :)
...cool [as a beche de mer ]...I hope you'll throw us a line in pidgin now and again.
I only know a few words [eg mixmaster blong Jisas Kraist;number one pikinini blong qwin],but I love the language and I love tales of those who've been to png and the stories of signs in pidgin they've come across.
Actually my 2 favourite t shirts would be John's shirt with ..please talk to me in Mandarin on it,and an old shirt with a cartoon of a scuba diver on it and everything labelled in pidgin...[eg,from memory things like ...fut blong duk duk;pipe blong pulim wind,hehe...hilarious stuff]

April 13, 2010 at 2:15 PMSure they didn't know the specifics of trichinosis.But I'd further like to know what evidence there is that they knew "pork" [specifically the meat] caused illness,rather than just a more general notion that "pigs" were unclean [perhaps just by their habits...and dragging mud through the joint].This is why I'm wondering if a bit of a retrospectoscope is being applied and they're stretching things a bit.We are talking about a very long time ago when understanding of such matters was pretty limited,but maybe there is evidence I don't know of.I suppose the key word here is "knew"...we must remember in the ancient world every thing under the sun was "suspected" with little basis.
ps Heard of pidgin English[eg Bislama]?...now that's fun stuff...you'd love it with phrases like "woman blong mi"
