I guess 冰球 refers more specifically to ice hockey and cannot be used to refer to Hockey in general....such as field hockey,roller hockey,deng deng ,dui ba?

曲棍球...can that be more generally applied?

This 射门 caught my attention for a couple of reasons. Firstly I have read here and hear on cctv 5 [in a brief listen] 打门 ...which is more common?

The other reason it caught my eye is that I recall 射 turning up in the Western Zodiac lesson and John saying that 射手 is not the usual term for archer and is pretty much only found in 射手座 Sagittarius . I guess he was referring to 射手 and not 射 on it's own,but anyway, still interesting to see it's used elsewhere.

The etymology of 传 is quite interesting. 人 on the left is the radical...fair enough. On the right we have 专 which in one definition can mean "monopolise, take sole possession"...which may suggest that despite A's urging ,this guy is not going to pass that ball. [j/k...I realise it's the phonetic here...still a funny coincidence in meaning]. This does lead me to a clarification question though. I presume in most [all?] cases the spoken language always predated the written. In other words when we have characters being formed the phonetic was chosen based on the fact that we already have the word in existence in the spoken language and they need to find a phonetic that gets close to that sound ,right?

Thanks for satisfying my curiousity. Xishan island is in the middle of Lake Tai I see. Looks like it could be a lovely setting. Interestingly they have western looking cowboys on their home page.

I've seen how Australia can also be 澳洲 [which seems to refer more to the continent perhaps] but the commentators were definitely using 澳大利亚 the other night.

All the examples seemed fine except I struggled a little bit with the first one:

我已经不习惯了。

..how this is translated as:

(I'm not used to this anymore.)

...yijing...already ...bu...not ...le completed action

..already not got used to

I'm struggling with the "anymore" . It seems tied in with the concept that maybe they were already used to it...yijing..le ...but now there's a bu..not used to it.
