July 13, 2010 at 1:48 AMGold! CPod Gold! This is straight off the top shelf. High expectations for this lesson and no failure in delivery. I love it. My favourite 2 lines were lulu's:
打着爱情的幌子偷情,还这么理直气壮!你有什么资格跟我谈判?你的爱啊情啊,应该自己找他去解决!
[particularly the ni de ai a qing a...those interposed a's are awesome]
and then her final one word for shenjiawei....perfect...she had only one word for him.
The music and the dramatic build up was so good too. Love the song [what is it?] ..and the way the volume of it was adjusted at the right time for dramatic effect [good job David].

July 12, 2010 at 11:57 AMThanks sebire and that's good to know. I certainly don't think this was an example of taking a dive, but there were plenty throughout in the tournament. We had a tv talk show about the world cup here called "Sam,Santo, and Ed" before the days play [each night here] and they had plenty of comedy skits showing the lighter side of the tournament. They had a whole series of clips of major acts..it was very funny..but during the game it does detract for mine.

July 12, 2010 at 11:54 AMThat's no accident - players know that if a guy's head is anywhere near the ball and they kick for it at head height, then that's a serious mistake and not in the spirit of the game
..darn. I have to agree with you ! hehe. Yeah, one would be hard pressed to see it as an accident. I'm also surprised he wasn't sent off, not only in view of the fact that it's dangerous, but also in view of other red cards I saw given in the tournament.

July 12, 2010 at 8:47 AMI only saw from towards the end of the first half. So I didn't see it but it looks like xiao_liang [thanks mate] has kindly provided the footage [looks like this cups equivalent of the Zidane headbut from last world cup...heck there was even the same continually looping video footage of that]. Well this footage of some footage certainly looks foul. I wouldn't call it a death kick though [though I'm sure it more than tickled, particularly as it looks like he didn't see it coming]. It doesn't even look like a kick to me..more of a raised leg [and possibly more momentum from the other guy running into it than from the Dutch guys momentum...not that it was the Spanish guys fault ...it looks pretty clear cut a foul]. Did the Spanish guy play on?

July 12, 2010 at 7:49 AMthanks Jenny. Great question go_manly [sorry I was starting to lead you up the garden path...I'll just keep quiet now, hehe]. I'm sleep deprived from the zuqiu and now that I see Jenny's explanation I realise I've struck that before somewhere. Anyhow, good reinforcement.

July 12, 2010 at 7:12 AMI only watch the game at world cup time so I don't profess to understand the finer details of the rulings. My impression is that there is a continuous string of incidents where it's hard at times for me to tell how much of it is professional fouls and how much of it is acting. Certainly in all the games I witnessed there seemed to be an amazing amount of acting going on,which I did think detracted from the game.Anyhow, there seemed to be a yellow card flashing pretty regularly. Do you think the ref let them get away with a lot of stuff? [btw don't take too much heed of what I say to theancientone...we just enjoy some friendly verbal jousting on occasion...I'm a glutton for punishment, hehe ]

July 12, 2010 at 2:38 AMI had great faith that you'd come up with the goods, and to be fair no one knows for sure what he looked like and this is the new Cobbe portrait that was recently found and thus most people are more familiar with Martin Droeshout's engraving or the Chandos portrait [and there is a fairly significant differences in his likenesses].Like a champ you've also come back with a very apt quote.
