yeah. It's pretty rare here now to get petrol stations with full service, so I was going to ask: what if you're impressed with the service and want to cheer 'em on as they fill 'er up? Can you say 加油加油！？ 。。and keep flicking back and forth enthusiastically between meanings? ...I guess a bit more emphasis on the 加油的加油 and a little less emphasis on the 加油的加油 should make it clear,right?

...just to add to that a little, I guess broadcasters for example would very likely be precise and specify the time zone..like Mountain Standard time, but I think it less likely on average the man in the street would bother being that precise in speech unless someone wanted it clarified. Yeah, I'm sure they'd just say local time as Jason has pointed out.

good question and good point. I guess it still could be said in context. For example if it was referring to a match played in America, it would probably be referring to the time zone the match was being played in. Shifting the context a little, I guess a traveller from America arriving in a different time zone could talk about what the time is in American time [referring to the place he/she came from]. I think China has one time zone doesn't it ..so it may have been written by a native Chinese or a laowai very used to the one time zone, hehe.

I enjoyed the interview. I'm not looking for some probing currrent affairs type interview...just a bit of fun. It may be that the poddie didn't want to divulge personal information like what he did in Korea and that's not likely to be too relevant to the study of Chinese. I especially enjoyed the spy joke. I think the interviews should remain as they are..relaxed ,friendly and informal. Just having a chat to a friend who's dropped by.
