September 3, 2010 at 12:37 AMI was tossing up between maths [which I did think most likely],mass, and Manx [though the latter seemed particularly unlikely]..but thought it could also be something I was completely unaware of
..yeah, I can hear it clearly now with an Irish accent

September 2, 2010 at 10:02 PMstephen,
Sorry, I wasn't clear enough. I did enter the correct answers in pinyin with tone marks [ I copied and pasted] but it didn't accept the answers as correct, and gave the correct answers in Hanzi below. So it looks like its looking for hanzi answers only. There are pinyin input programmes where you can type in pinyin with tones, but it won't help in the dictation exercise for the reason above.

September 2, 2010 at 9:51 PMA friend once told me about Giota Beag and I did have a brief listen about a year ago. I don't think I'd find time to study both Irish and Chinese, though may give it more of a look one day...esp if I were planning a trip there...then definitely. I'm curious why you are studying it? As the film points out the utility is low. I love the sound of the language though. Are you living there or travelling there? Daniel is a common name amongst Irish I think...do you have ancestry?
ps being intermediate in Irish is very impressive I'd say.

September 3, 2010 at 9:16 AMok, tried the cd quality and compared it with radio quality on the same podcast. Maybe I can hear the difference. Yeah, maybe. I might give it more of a shot in the hope that every little bit of help I can get may make a difference.
