What makes this QW an awesome lesson is all the example sentences that don't contain a direct translation of the English word "try" and yet convey the meaning. An excellent exercise in realising the need to think in East brain [ and perhaps also a reminder that you may be able to get your message across in a workaround with vocab you do know].

I was thinking the same thing earlier..not only funny, but seamless. I was trying to spot the connection and couldn't see it [my guess is base of neck, but I really can't tell]

In this "verb verb 看" structure, can you use another verb in place of the 看? for example, in the sofa example, instead of zuozuokan could you say zuozuogan [坐坐感】 or 坐坐摸 or 坐坐摩? ..ok, probably not, but are there cases you can substitute for the kan [ can you can kan?]

btw thanks to zhenlijiang for some prefamiliarisation with 尝尝 in a green eggs and ham discussion.

I'm wondering if 吃吃看 and 尝尝 have a different nuance of meaning. In English .."eating and seeing" to see what a food is like would definitely involve swallowing but tasting would not necessarily [or would it be better to use 品尝 here?]. Also how would this apply to beverages? I guess 喝喝看 would be the equivalent of 吃吃看 and would also involve 吞咽着. Do you also use 尝尝 for tasting beverages and can it be used for example in the case of wine tasters where there is some swishing [怎么说在中文。。可能“拂动着”】 followed by some 吐ing "
