October 11, 2010 at 6:00 AMThanks trevorb,
"I suspect you don't get your strokes backward enough to see the method"
..sorry I wasn't very clear. I was playing around with it deliberately trying strokes both ways on a character. In other words I'd do it one way, and then I'd erase it and do it the other way and it sometimes wouldn't object either way.
Also, as for the shape of the stroke, I thought the thicker part of the stroke indicated the start of the stroke and the thin bit where it trailed off at the end as you supposedly start to lift your brush [and it is less laden with paint]. But sometimes it seemed the other day that the start of the stroke was the thinner end. Can anyone enlighten me here as to how to tell for sure where the start of a stroke is?

October 10, 2010 at 5:38 AMA couple of questions about this fabulous tool Skritter.
I've just noticed below skritter is this message:
You are using Skritter Lite, a free add-on for Premium and above ChinesePod subscribers. In the future there will be a more full-featured version of this add-on available in the Add-ons section. The technology powering this add-on is provided by Skritter.
When will this more full-featured version become available, how much will it cost, will it be able to be used on the CPod site like the Lite version currently is, and what are the extra features in the full version that aren't available in the Lite version?
Secondly. With stroke animation, I have worked out how to pause it and restart it. I'd like to know though if there is a way to slow down each individual stroke so it's clearer which direction each individual stroke goes in. Sometimes I've noticed that if you do a stroke backwards it will give feedback that you've done it backwards, but this does not always seem to occur [ in other words sometimes you can do a stroke either way and not get that feedback with either way]

October 10, 2010 at 2:08 AMI think when you right click on a photo, the drop down list is worded slightly differently depending on which browser you have. But anyway, glad to see you've got it working now mate. :)

October 9, 2010 at 5:03 PMMate, I'm sorry but I can't really tell what the problem is. If you can just post the url [ the http address] and you can also let me know the sizes, then I'll try and post it for you and make it clearer what steps I did. I can't spy the problem from what you've said. Maybe it will be clearer in the am.

October 9, 2010 at 2:12 AMthanks John. I guess it's easier just to keep it simple like that. Sounds like there's nothing hard and fast.

October 8, 2010 at 2:57 PMHey mate, we always love having native speakers visit us on the boards and help out with our Chinese and you never know, you might end up finding a language exchange partner out of it, so welcome. Just a tip... Poddies tend to prefer requests for language exchange aren't made on lesson threads [not that it worries me personally]. I think there is meant to be a spot on the site for such requests, but I'm not sure if that has been set up or not. You could also try subscribing to this company's English learning site:
http://englishpod.com/
which is good value and doesn't require you rola in dou [ sorry, couldn't resist a little joke ]

October 8, 2010 at 2:39 PMhehe, I have visions of having the guqin on the ground and then lying horizontally with an ear placed over the tuning peg and then running around in circles. I'm sure Curly Howard would be a natural at it and make it look easy, nyuk nyuk nyuk ;)
