"天天下雨郁闷死了"

碰巧最近在这里是这样,可是我没感觉是郁闷死了因为这样防止热死了

天天雷暴那么厉害!

"那些巧克力不到一天吃光"

。。。很明显在那个地方有一个巧克力狂当中 【可以这样说?】,呵呵。在中国巧克力狂是不是普遍?

As for 呔 once again the character is interesting. Clearly the right side is the phonetic which leaves the left side kou...mouth, the radical. I guess in the case of tyre it fits because of the circular shape [sort of] , and as for tie it could be the the way it encircles the neck ..once again the shape ..or less likely but more to my liking representing the mouth wide open gasping for air as the tie is tai tight ...aiyou !

thanks mate. They're good examples of words likely to be emphasized, so that's a helpful response. I guess I should have made my question clearer. What I had in mind was that I was particularly wanting to hear an audio example [say from a CPod dialogue].

hehe.

yeah, I wondered if anyone would pull me up on "partial"...having never heard of a "partial transliteration" before. I knew it wasn't a very good way to express it but I lazily put it that way anyway, hehe. Of course you know what I meant is that it's a transliteration but the attempt has only bothered to pick out half of the sound of the English word. Yeah, good enough for me too. Actually I listened to this podcast on my iphone in the car before looking at any of the material and when I heard luntai I thought the tai was going to be a transliteration of tyre, but then looking at the character this morning I went off on a different tangent [well actually I still thought it may have been a transliteration but they'd chosen an apt character at the same time].

ties in HK..hehe, yeah I'm no fan of 'em either. Of course they're famous for their cheap tailor made suits there as well.

thanks zhen. Good idea...it was bound to have been discussed by changye at some stage. I guess the thing with this radical is that they're identical so without other clues or looking it up, you're not going to know which one is being used, right?

Agree 4th tone is easiest to emphasize. I guess first one is possibly next easiest, followed by 3rd maybe and 2nd tone hardest...or neutral tone maybe. Anyone rank them differently? Got any examples of 2nd, 3rd or neutral being emphasized?
