February 18, 2011 at 11:39 AMyeah, I didn't know the answer to your question, but it was 会 that I thought you were referring to in the sense of he really has the ability..yeah, in English funny. I think if it was simply 他会掉头发 without the 很 it might not sound so funny in translation as 会 could possibly taken on the "will" meaning [though probably not I guess in context]. Even so, the emphasis that 很 gives to 会 seems to add the tone you were referring to. FWIW, from the Chinese I've heard though my feeling is that it's not necessarily jokey at all...they seem to say these sorts of things...sounds natural to me, though I guess it would come back to tone and context and could probably go either way [not trying to be a fence sitter here, hehe]. Good question anyhow. Will be interesting to see what others think.

February 18, 2011 at 4:31 AMok, and looking now at the 2006 figures for the whole of Brisbane it's a similar picture with 50,908 of Chinese ancestry and 11,734 of other NE Asian ancestry.

February 18, 2011 at 4:01 AMI thought that was what you were saying but wasn't sure. I was a little surprised because while I've met/struck many Koreans here my impression is that there are many more Chinese than Koreans here. I've just checked and in 2006 in Mitchelton of the people who had north east asian ancestry 68 were from China and only 28 were from other north east asian. I guess it depends on which circles you're moving in though. Yes, I'm sure many more opportunities to practice in China. Cheers :)
