I've been looking for a good soapie, and it's cool to know one that's popular at the moment, particularly one someone like yourself is interested in. I hope I can find the time to watch it. Dunno if I'll catch up to the current episode though. The good thing is, I had a quick look and it seemed to load a lot faster than other stuff I've had coming out of China. I wonder if it's because it's from Taiwan and there's no great wall.

Thanks. I thought it might drop the h as well to a large degree. Hungry Traveler Taiwan is a good suggestion. I should give it another listen.

Thanks for that mate. Yeah, as I was fading out last night, I suddenly realised that jiang sound was likely a squished 这样...but I though the next character was 是 not 吃....I'm aware there is slightly different pronunciation in Taiwan and in this case I thought I was hearing "si" and I thought I'd heard in Taiwan the "sh" sound becomes more of an "s" sound. What happens with "chi"'s pronunciation? Listening again, perhaps I can just make out a hint of "chi" but it's indistinct to me. I know this will be much clearer to you...is it really obvious? any tips? how to distinguish? ...just practice I guess?
