July 4, 2011 at 11:25 PMah yes, now you mention it, it does sound like it's from something like that. That's ringing some sort of bell now.

July 4, 2011 at 11:22 PM"The most original sentence wins"
以后:
“OK, these are in the running for the most original sentences, but maybe we need some more material!”

July 4, 2011 at 10:34 PM"body doors"...I immediately get your drift....it sounds like the physical equivalent of personal boundaries, but I can't say I've heard that term before [forgive my ignorance], so maybe before we have CPod giving us the Asian perspective, you could give us the French, or waigouren understanding of the concept mate? Where and when did this term originate, and who uses it?

July 4, 2011 at 10:25 PMgood work kimiik. The estimated number of unregistered is interesting. I wonder how they came up with those figures. This is where you are meant to register with the local police station within a few days of arriving, right? Refresh my memory what the rules are here. It doesn't apply to tourists right? Who are these unregistered ones and what's the upshot for them?

July 4, 2011 at 9:51 AMI'm most impressed with the "as customers ate" bit [I've seen it before, but never whilst eating]. I'm now wondering just how many services your body can receive at the same time as you eat, I mean as you are fed [you can't feed yourself if you're having a manicure and pedicure at the same time now can you?]. I guess there is a finite number of people who can have access to your body at once, but I like the idea of going for a record on this. Ear wax, haircut, manicure, pedicure, massage, exfoliation, cupping ,accupuncture, what else we got? [I won't mention coming to america]

July 4, 2011 at 8:48 AMWell, as I said, I don't have the breakdown for the provinces and you would expect some variation from province to province, but how different is Yunnan from the rest of China where foreigners are concerned?
The overall figures are:
"Of all foreigners covered, 120750 were from the Republic of Korea, 71493 the United States, 66159 from Japan, 39776 from Myanmar, 36205 from Viet Nam, 19990 from Canada, 15087 from France, 15051 from India, 14446 from Germany, and 13286 from Australia. The remaining 181589 persons came from other countries."
If I were to make an uneducated guess, I would wonder whether the high number of foreigners from neighbouring countries might be a little more distributed closer to their border [or closest point] to China, and so for instance maybe the proportion of Koreans in Yunnan may not be as high as it is in North East China. Maybe the Myanmar proportion may be higher in Yunnan though.
But I hear what you're saying. A significant percentage of the 71,000+ Americans may be ABC's for example.

July 4, 2011 at 4:20 AMI don't have the breakdown of nationalities by Province, but you may be interested to know there were 47394 foreigners in Yunnan plus a couple of unclassified individuals with a footnote saying they were Chinese speakers and nativelike in both habit and garb, but suspected of showing traces of being foreigners, possibly Aussie [watch this space]

July 4, 2011 at 4:11 AMas you'll see from above, the biggest number of foreigners were in Guangdong. Nearly 72000 from the US in China, how many in Guangdong I don't know, but while I suspect it's therefore somewhat less than 50,000 in Guangdong, I think it's not a bad guess mate.

July 4, 2011 at 11:49 PM1:17: 更加的缓和
。。对吧?
I haven't heard of this "缓和“ before, but that's what it sounds like and makes sense.
1:39 ”曰“, 对吧。。。“试试用中文曰Jenny。。。”
4:54 “。。你可以去做或者是不去做”。。。是不是“去做”?
