July 8, 2011 at 3:43 AMGood question. Well literal would have been tropical island [or heat belt island]. Makes me think of pina colada but that's just spanish for strained pineapple and it doesn't like like a transliteration of that so probably not right, hey? Is it a local specialty or a drink from another country? well known?

July 8, 2011 at 2:15 AMit's funny that they've gone with jī [excite] here if it is meant to be a transliteration because my mnemonic for the tones is that the two first tones represent you're high levels of excitement as you get your icecream and the líng 2nd tone sounds a bit like "lick" and the action of licking from the base of the icecream up to the peak of the icecream mountain is the same profile as the 2nd tone. Heck, the word even sounds like your whole nervous system is ringing bells of excitement in anticipation.

http://chinesepod.com/lessons/%E4%BA%86-le-somethings-about-to-happen

July 7, 2011 at 1:52 PM又谢谢你。
