One of the few reviews I had a squiz at seems to suggest there's some regulatory problem in Australia making access to some material difficult. Any Aussies with experience with the kindle app?

Yeah, I thought it was a joke and I also thought she was referring to 长宁区 as I have above, but I wasn't certain why it was a joke, and sorry but I'm still not sure I get the joke. I take it I was wrong in thinking she was making a pun and also saying 炒宁区? I thought she substituted 炒 for the somewhat similar sounding 长 to make the joke as the former has the bbq element and the latter is a real district in Shanghai. Would you mind confirming if I have understood the joke, or if I haven't, explain what the joke was? Sorry to be slow on this.

You did such a good job of that last UI that I doubt seriously this is beyond you mate, but I know it can seem that way on a first listen. When you stop and break it down, and if you learn the new vocab, I think bit by bit it would come together. This series is well worth the effort as its CPod top shelf stuff. Each episode is more or less independent from the last [except as in this one the first line is often just a reference to the last episode, but it's not important]. So you could jump straight in to any episode, or just go from the first episode. But whatever takes your fancy mate. :)

The former seems to go along with the idea of it being a social lubricant, and in the case of waiguoren's transcending language barriers. I guess 在这些情况下 we could make a chicken and egg argument over a 哑巴汉语人。。。is this guy mute because he's drunk, or is he drunk because he's mute?
