November 7, 2011 at 4:05 AM6:38..hehe, I kept tossing up whether it was 词 or 字..backed the wrong horse
8:26...ah, that makes a lot more sense. For some reason I kept thinking it was quanli as one word [should have realised li went with tanzhang !!]. I thought it was quan 4th tone but couldn't think of any quanli's with a 4th tone. Context told me she was supporting him but didn't know that word 劝..duoxie :)

November 7, 2011 at 3:58 AM3:53 ...thanks XuZhou. Sorry, I was a bit misleading with that question mark. I had caught the rest ok but was just questioning whether I had 赶时间 right or not. Thanks for confirming.
5:44...oh, hehe, I had made a meal of that bit. Thanks, that makes a lot more sense. Interestingly, despite a lot of mistakes I still got the gist anyway, hehe.

November 6, 2011 at 8:15 AMI haven't seen this before, and while it's labelled tiger vs lion amazing fight, it's really just a series of tiffs:

..and this one's similar but appropriately set to "eye of the tiger":

November 6, 2011 at 8:06 AMhehe, yeah I know, I was just kidding mate [as I'm sure you realise]. I love such nature docos, and you've made a very good point. Hey, have you ever seen that amateur video footage, the battle of Kruger?:

November 5, 2011 at 10:24 PM"based on the many documentaries about lions that I've watched , I have to say that male lions are generally cowards and don't show much "heart" when the time comes for it."
...maybe you just tuned in part way when Uncle Scar was ruling the show, and sure Simba went through a bad phase in his youth, but he came through in the end

November 5, 2011 at 9:35 AMI'd like to ask about this line of Litanzhang's:
相信你会比我更出色 【 I believe you'll be even more outstanding than me]
...with regards to Chinese humility. Would Litanzhang really say this? In some respects it does show humility because it's saying she'll be more outstanding. But at the same time, is he not saying that he's outstanding? Of course he is, but would he say this of himself?

November 7, 2011 at 4:38 AM16:10 here's a Baidu article on 古惑仔:
http://baike.baidu.com/view/16281.htm
a translator has it as young and dangerous, but while I'm sure that's in keeping with the theme, I don't see how you'd get that from those characters. I mean it's a different huozi to 小伙子 and gu makes it look old, ancient even....but maybe it's the old as time theme of young dangerous guys, battle between good and evil, deng deng, hehe
Thanks heaps again XuZhou :)
