"I think that the answer is yes"

yeah, I didn't realise this, but I guess I should have guessed it. I also gather pretzell's done heaps.

"But if there is value in actually doing the transcript (and I am agreeing that there is some value) it should not matter whether ChinesePod has done it or not"

true. I guess. I guess I'd just be too lazy, hehe. It's a lot of work and easier and easier to just check up the bits you're missing if there was a transcript. I guess it depends where you're at. If you're getting up around 90% of what you're hearing then 90% of what you're typing out is a waste of time I think. Well, maybe not a waste of time, but I've just become too lazy for that, let's put it that way. Good practice I'm sure but I couldn't be bothered. I think it's more beneficial if you're only picking up half of it or something on first listen.

Yes, I hear what you're saying about 听力 ...good point and I think Chris and Waiguoren have been making points to that effect recently.

"When I said 'no chance' it was partly rhetorical, partly a reflection of Jenny and John's separate comments above"

...sure. Actually, I thought that was probably where you were coming from.

"他生我的气"有什么意思?

生气...angry

..so "he was angry with me"?

or "he gave rise/gave birth to my anger"?...."he made me angry"

I was always under the impression that John's very tech savvy. I'd be willing to bet he sets up his own.

"What I would probably be much less inclined to do in that case is post my own efforts"

...sure. I can't imagine us posting our transcriptions if there was an official CPod one.

I understand how helpful transcribing is, but I think it's terrribly time consuming and I'd personally only go and check the bits I couldn't catch when listening

"I think transcription is just a transfer of the existing content from one format/medium to another"

...Zhen, once again I agree with you. There's no question it's CPod's material.

"Baba I threw out that transcripts for purchase idea"

...sorry Zhen, I hadn't read that at that stage so my above comments weren't in response to what you'd written. I still haven't read all of this subthread, and have only caught up to this one now. So I've been responding as I go, rather than reading the whole thread first [usually I do it the other way round, but I've been busy and this is a long un]

...but yeah, it would be tedious, that's why I suggested a young native kid keen for any paid work.
