September 23, 2007 at 4:16 AMI wanted to point out a small language point that I noticed. The man said, "有哪几种" you3 na3 ji3 zhong3. That's four third tones in a row. That's usually really tough for a non-native speaker. http://chinesepod.com/learnchinese/tone-rule-two-third-tones/discussion

September 22, 2007 at 12:12 AMHi Amber, I thought I heard you say "混血“ (hun4xie3) in reference to Henning and Mrs. Henning's children. Is that, first of all, a commonly used term, and second of all, can it be taken as offensive in anyway? Hi Henning and Mrs. Henning : ) It is so nice to hear the voice that goes with the Avatar and blogposts. You two gave terrific advice. Love the accent; don't change it one bit! Yes, Bazza will have to have his own DA episode and share his secrets to conquering Mandarin Chinese! Eileen, that's so strange that you said that about age 30 being considered "old." I remember that it was so important for me to marry before I turned 30, and I don't think it was from parental pressure at all! (I married 3 months shy of my 30th birthday.) I think a lot of professional women delay marriage due to their ambitions and pursuits. I wonder if that's true of women in China nowadays. dmartind, that's hilarious. Your father-in-law has a great sense of humor! Dave, I was going to say: no wonder you are still single! But, I thought better of it : ) You are married/committed to CPod and for that , we poddies are deeply appreciative, and benefit greatly!
