September 29, 2007 at 8:20 AM@Bill Thank you for sharing your language history with us. It's so inspirational. I, too, feel that when it comes to learning a language, part of the learning takes place as we allow the sound of it to wash over us repeatedly. The sound of a language makes impressions in our cerebral cortex similar to how a complicated symphony makes an impression when we listen repeatedly to it.

September 27, 2007 at 11:10 PMThanks, kien, for the info. That's not something we have in the State (I don't think? ) so I didn't really get why it's important to get the right receipt, why there are government authorized receipts vs. everyday business receipts. henning/bazza both your sentences sound correct to me, but henning's construction sounds more natural; the academic team may be able to elaborate on the subtle differences.

September 27, 2007 at 8:34 PM@Phil What is VAT or VAT system? Does it have anything to do with a tax system? Is there such a thing as a tax system in China?

September 27, 2007 at 10:06 AMCongratulations, Man2toe! That's awesome! How did you get this one? I saw the film and remember Jack Nickelson opening a medicine cabinet full of unopened bars of soap. And, why is it called, "Mr. Cat Urine?"猫尿先生 ?
