The "Shanghai ancien" photos remind me of the rural city of Taiwan where I was born. The glass behemoths you captured in "Shanghai nouveau" remind me of New York City. Who is that gal with Jenny?

October 12, 2007 at 1:05 AM@pulosm Regarding shen2 v. shen3, I've always pronounced 什么事 as shen3 not shen2meshi4. The dialogue also sounds like shen3 even though the lesson pdf shows it as second tone. Perhaps the acad team can clarify. Perhaps a local variation.
