Peter definitely was not a native speaker. His tones were really good, but was frequently wrong (sorry, Dave.) His vocab was great though; much better than mine anyway.

@helen "z--like "ds"in "birds" zh--like "j" in "job" c--like "ts"in "cats" ch-like "ch"in "chat" s-- like "s" in "silk" sh- like "sh" in "shape" These are absolutely the perfect sound-equivalents between Mandarin and English! I hope the poddies realize that. Helen, perhaps you can add "qi" "xi" "ji" "ri" etc.
