"Cpod won't make a formal announcement about video lessons if cpod decides to discontinue video lessons."

Bullseye.

Instead of saying 它一边哭,一边说, could you instead say 它哭着说 ?

Or does that convey a different meaning?

Well if we weren't learning Chinese, then the story itself would be for children, so I guess you could say it was childish. I don't think that the lesson itself can be called childish. There is as much valuable vocabulary and grammar in there as in any other Intermediate lesson, so I don't think the fact that it is based on a children's story should make any difference to the lesson's value.

"But at least the United States is one of the few countries that hasn't disarmed it's citizens"

In the majority of the Western world, the government hasn't disarmed its citizens - we were never armed in the first place. And other than a few minority groups (for 'minority' read 'insignificantly small') we have never had a desire to be armed. I have never met a person in Australia (other than farmers) who expressed a desire to be armed. You guys live your lives by a paradigm that is completely foreign to most citizens of most civilised countries.

Anyway, today is hot and sticky, so I will exercise my right to bare arms.

I find John's comment about toy guns in the States unbelievable. Instead of banning real guns, you ban the toys because they might look like real guns. But I guess I should have grown used to this distorted sense of logic coming from the US.
