April 26, 2011 at 9:58 AM保不住 保不定 bao3 bu zhu4 and bao3 bu4 ding are defined by MDBG as expressions used for "more likely than not". "Most likely", "on the cards". Go figure.

April 18, 2011 at 8:40 AMThanks Tim. You are right of course, there are several reasons why conviction rates may vary.

April 17, 2011 at 11:07 PMWell good for you Tom. In the US typically I think they over do it. All of you likely would have gone to jail. They use incidents like this as taser practice. hehe. They let the Judge sort it out. In China, the conviction rate is about 98% so hope they don't arrest you. In the US it varies by state from 59% in Florida to 82% in (yep you guessed it) Texas.

April 17, 2011 at 6:15 PMI thought it was an obvious play on the word tai tai 太太。No? The point here is that he is a male in a traditionally female role. At least that was my interpretation.

April 8, 2011 at 9:59 AMHardwork,
The "joke" is that this is a language lesson, but when you open it, there are only two words in it. Basically its empty. So you say, what the heck is this? A language lesson with no language? What are they thinking? Silence is the same in any language, you cant teach this. Then you realize. OH, I get it, its April fools day. Thats it. There is no profound hidden joke here. If there is, I missed it. Most of the comments here are also "tongue in cheek". They are basically just playing along, pretending there is a real lesson here. All in fun. It is funnier than the rice joke, or was it peanuts? hehe. Anyway they did go to great lengths to perpetrate this April Fool's scam, for this I give them points. Funny? not so much. :-)
