March 29, 2011 at 9:25 AMafter you check in to your room, go back to the desk and tell them you left your card in your room. They will make you another (if you have your passport) and usually they both will continue to work. Lately I just ask for 2 and they give them to me. I do tend to leave them in the room since you have to place them in that little slot on the wall to get power to the room. Hence my desire for 2 cards.

March 29, 2011 at 9:06 AMwell on the surface I want to agree with you but on the other hand, "kick the bucket", although its origins are not really known, is thought to come from something like this according to wikipedia:
"comes from a method of execution such as hanging, or perhaps suicide, in the Middle Ages. A noose is tied around the neck while standing on an overturned bucket. When the pail is kicked away, the victim is hanged."
So maybe it is appropriate?
Interesting that the movie "the bucket list" is translated 一路玩到掛 yi1 lu4 wan2 dao4 gua4 ("play all the way until you hang" or something like that)

March 29, 2011 at 8:46 AMGreat interview. So is the policeman next? A security guard would also be fun but I would like to hear from a real city cop.

March 28, 2011 at 11:59 PM哈哈, I would feel cheap leaving a tip that small. You are a legend my friend. Maybe I can afford to move to China after all. Was there a bed with that linen?

March 28, 2011 at 9:09 AMIf everything the Chinese have told me is good for you, or does this or does that, were true, they would all live to be 1000.

March 27, 2011 at 1:28 PMI am not a big fan of cold dishes. Bring on the spicy hot food. Finding good recipes is tough. How about 宫保鸡丁。Im still looking for an authentic recipe. Just cant quite re-create that spicy oily sweet and sour flavor. Even in China it varies from place to place, but when its good, its so good. My Chinese friends tell me this is "low end" food, but I love it.

March 29, 2011 at 9:33 AMDouble yes, but the price of beer in the mini-bar is usually 45 kuai at my favorite hotel. I try to go to the local store and replace them if I decide to drink from the mini-bandit.
