In english, "night owl" refers to a person who likes to stay up late but to me, this has no untoward implications. It does not refer to someone who partys shamelessly, just someone whose biological clock tends toward the wee hours. I have not heard the expression "night hawk" used in this way but it would likely be understood. Actually I think the expression "night owl" is now a bit dated. The guy in our story is more than a night owl. He is a party animal. When I was young I would go to bed at 4 am and get up whenever the headache was gone, nowadays I rise every morning at 4 am. Even on the weekends.

Changye. I believe you are dealing with two separate people. Chittywangwang is not chittywangbang as far as I can tell and the CWW avatar wins hands down if you ask me. :-)

dan- true even though it is actually an intrastate highway then - go figure. 4 and 10 both are in Fla but dont come near each other. My guess is since Clay is involved and 10 goes through Texas, the pic was taken in Texas and doctored to make a point. The sign is probably for the east and west ramps of I-10.

Chris - not the same. MSG is an additive with no real food value. sodium (2S)-2-amino-5-hydroxy-5-oxo-pentanoate. This dissociates in saliva to release the anionic form of glutamic acid (which is an amino acid). The effect on the taste buds is to create the illusion of a flavor called umami as Henning has pointed out. This is a meat like flavor. It is called "accent" in the US and was first patented by the Japanese. It is added to many soups and most potato chip etc. and often used in fast food. The jury is still out on whether it is harmful but some people have mild allergic reactions. Sorry, probably more than you wanted.
