Here is the tattoo in simplified and trad but did they have simplified characters in 1122? (the year he left for the army and recieved the tatoo according to my limited research.) "serve the country with the utmost loyalty" 尽忠报国 or 盡忠報國 I was thinking a "one China" tattoo might be appropriate today. Well, depending where you are. :-)

I would like to second darylk's request for a lesson, or perhaps a dear Amber show, on common Chinese superstitions, past and present. All societies have them. -RJ

Yes, I second Bazza's comment - I think having Vera on the show more often would encourage people to sign up for the practice plan. Good advertisement. I know I will give it a try when I feel I am ready. I love the way she says yea yea yea yea yea.....I know several Chinese people that have this habit and I think it comes directly from the habit of saying dui dui dui dui dui. Very Chinese. I even find myself doing it now. :-) -RJ

Hey Doc, great to hear from you and Josh. He is a very articulate boy for 10 years. Somebody is teaching him right. Have fun. -RJ

It looks like Changye has already posted a similar link. Sorry. I heard she is in protective custody until after the olympics. Is that true?

auntie68 - Taipan provides a link to a film of the actual event in this post on the day after it happened. They were obviously at a loss as to what to do about her. http://chinesepod.com/connections/viewpost/TaiPan/connect/Translation+Please...

There is nothing to pa but pa itself. So how will Art say this if you cant 帕帕? What I fear is the "look". That look I get when I speak Chinese and the target person doesnt understand any of what I just said. The other scenario is zero acknowledgement - when you say someting in Chinese hoping to get a reaction of at least surprise from someone who is obviously Chinese and they act like nobody said anything. Oh well, If at first you don't succeed, try try again.
