Actually tvan, I too think its wrong. I just dont see it as my job to judge. Anyway, as wennytao has so gracefully put it - lets get back to studying Chinese. Good call.

Now I have broken my own rule of not commenting on religion or politics and Im sure I will regret it. Auntie68 - as wise as you are, you must know 40 is not old. Not by a long shot. Dont limit yourself by deciding you are old. You are only as old as you feel and today 40 is the new 30 as they say. Happy birthday by the way. Just think of it as being 39 for the second time around. RJ

Wennytao, no one is asking you to get a sex change. Why do you care what others do? Why dont you live and let live and God will judge in the end. Does he not say judge not lest ye be judged? There is no slippery slope and to say whats next - marriage to aniamals is ludicrous. Nobody chooses to be in any sexual orientation. You are born with it. Concentrate on your relationship with God and let him handle the things that are too complex for you to understand. Its not your job. RJ

Henning, same in the US. No Chinese history to speak of. When I went to school "Red China" was a mystery to be feared. I was so angry when I first went to China, realizing I had no accurate information or understanding of such a great place. Angry also with myself for letting that happen. RJ

Yase- you did a great job on the show btw, I dont know why you should hesitate to listen. Thanks for your insights. I was just in BJ, wish I had known, perhaps we could have had lunch or something. Would love to ask you many questions.

I guess I should learn to type - Beijing is the proper spelling of course.

Bejing and Shanghai are both beautiful in their own ways. I noticed in BJ that I was pretty much invisible as a foreigner. They dont even seem to notice. Quite used to foreigners I guess. I think the people were more relaxed. SH is about money. Love both places but SH is more exciting.

Clay, yes, I rather enjoy the Chinglish I encounter throughout the city in SH. Quite inventive, sometimes logical, but always quaintly wrong.
