just as a point of interest, I have another computer that uses IE6 and I had the same issue when I tried that one. I have to believe there are others out there using IE6 so you may hear it again.

February 16, 2009 at 9:57 AMthe "just where do you get off" expression is so common I just never thought about it but I can see where it would cause some confusion. Now that I think about it - it makes little sense even though I know exactly what it means. Language indeed is a wonderful thing.

this was discussed a while back and I think the consensus was that when squid is fried it rolls up just like the sleeping bags of migrant workers when they are fired. Not very satisfying but seems to be the answer. I like the expression but it will never catch on in the states.

yea I know but this is my work computer. I cant upgrade it until Aug when it will be replaced (maybe). Meanwhile its attached to me 24/7. Its not a big deal since it functions, especially if no one else is affected. It may very well be specific to this computer since they make some security related changes to the browsers. If Im the only complaint you get, you did well. The changes look good. I hope the traditional guys are happy now.

I guess its just me? I have cleared the cache. I use IE6 and win xp. Its all lessons. Dialogue page - only one sound button appears on the right until I click it then the rest appear. The last section of the page repeats at the bottom. If I set the default to keep the english translator on, it gets worse. Expansion page - only the first sound button in each set of three appears. When I click the first the other two show up. Useable but ugly. I have firefox and that one works fine but I dont usually use it. Thats all I can tell you. Lets see if anyone else is having trouble.

February 16, 2009 at 3:16 AMLike the new format but having some trouble with the sound buttons on the dialogue page of all lessons. Some buttons are missing, more show up when I click the first, but not all. Seems to be a page alignment issue as well.

just a suggetion. Links to the blog and the user voice pages should be included in the list of links at the bottom of the site pages. Why wouldnt they be there? In addition to being more convenient for all, I think this would lead to more activity on these pages.

you asked if anyone has tried the long jing. Yes, this is the only tea I drink. I picked it out during a taste test in China several years ago and have found none better since. I buy some every time I return to China and I drink it every day. I recommend it highly. Its coffee for breakfast and green tea for lunch. My work mates dont share my enthusiasm for green tea however, they feel tea should come in "bags" and belongs in the cup of some limp wristed British chap. Fine, more for me. My wrists are strong and I love my tea.

I thought the expression was older than that and had something to do with getting off your metaphorical (or real) horse. :-)
