This dialogue uses the word "调整" but it is not explained in the discussion.

What is the difference between 调整 and 调节?

This lesson brought up the word for a "radio."
How do Chinese most commonly say, "to listen to the radio"?

Thanks.

Hi bodawei. Have you done this before? I had been told that a tourist visa can only last 1 month (valid for a 90-day period, but the stay must be 30 days or less). I was worried that I would have to get a return flight that corresponded to that time limit or I would not be allowed into the country, and that changing my flight every month to correspond with the new date could get horrifically expensive; also that there would be a limit on the number of renewals. I had asked the consulate if I could go to Russia, for example, to renew my Chinese visa in Vladivostok (as I am hoping to spend some time in Harbin) but was told that it is impractical and too difficult to get a Russian visa for such a purpose.

I would love to hear about any experience you might have had with this sort of thing, staying in China for a longer period of time without being enrolled in full-time school or work, successfully or otherwise.

Does this mean that 短语 corresponds to the English term "phrase" as differentiated from a "clause"?

A timely lesson for me. I am in the midst of a struggle with visa issues myself.

I have come to the conclusion that I should probably try to go for an F visa because, as John mentioned in the lesson, I am a freelancer and an artist. However, I am having difficulty finding out from either official or unofficial sources what exactly would count as a "cultural exchange" or "internship" or "advanced study" and what I would need for a valid invitation letter. I want to stay in China for 6 months.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

Also, in the lesson it is said that it is more difficult to get a work visa if you have not had one before. What is the reason for that? Does this mean that I should take a short-term job I don't really want, (say, teaching English) to improve my chances of being able to work at something more suitable later on?

It's so hard to find clear information on these things.

At around 13:45, Jenny says:

"所以这个短语也特别好"

Could someone explain, what is the difference between "词语" and "短语"? What is the precise meaning of this sentence?

Thanks.

Ah I see. Thanks, bababardwan. That makes sense.

Sometimes I still forget to account for the Shanghainese accent when trying to figure out what they're saying. I like when John repeats what she says, because he always fills in the missing "g"s on her "ing"s and "eng"s.

At about 2:55 it sounds like Jenny says: "我们看一个对印的。"

I can't find "对印的" in the dictionary. What is she saying here?
