ME: Pudian subway station, there's one just nearby. I got off from there last night. HE: Where? ME: The subway, what do you mean you don't know where it is, you're a taxi driver, and you don't know where it is, you got to be kidding, this is crazy, no don't go, stop, stop right now. I'm not dealing with this, you're crazy, idiot, I can't believe this. (The above was me 'spazzing') (I think the taxi cabbie just didn't want such a short fare, so he was playing stupid) And here it was in Chinese... 去浦电地铁站。前边的，很附近。昨天晚上用了。你这么会不知道在那里。等一下，多少，你知道还是不知道。别走！停车。真是。真么会那样子。我走。 Next cabbie: 我：我要去浦电地铁站。 他：知道了。

November 9, 2007 at 2:42 AMFILE download. I don't know if it's been fixed since, or is a problem on my side. But my iTunes now seems to download the pdfs, instead of the audio. I hadn't changed anything. And both playing the audio file here and trying to download only got me a few minutes.... Anyone else, or is it just a China and/or MY problem??! (And I'm talking about the mp3s, not the gals! 哈哈）

November 9, 2007 at 2:22 AMMEASURE WORDS LOOKUP - hmm, I tried the * wildcard with Google, thing is it returns too many variations, can't really easily find an example of a measure word. I tried * 家， *眼镜, *车。 But got a whole lot of other combos. Any other ideas? My pleco seems to use only the Concise English & Chinese Dictonary, Oxford Press. If I look up "car" or "车” I don't see any hints of measure words. I will try to take a look at Pleco about this. But I'd much rather have an online solution if anyone knows.

But I don't think there's one on a basic organization chart for a typical company. I'm kinda involved (top secret next Google/PTR like company startup...or not) and so this typically DRY vocab suddenly became interesting to me. I share with you...an org chart. xing zheng bu 行政部 Administrative/Executive Department ren shi bu 人事部 Human Resources (HR) ying yun bu 营运部 Operations Department caiwubu 财务部 Accounting (it really sounded like food to me) shi chang bu 市场部 Marketing (this sounded like city dept to me--there IS a cpod lesson on marketing, that's how I knew!) *hey, if you want tone marks or something fancy like that, don't ask me, go ask adso!

November 14, 2007 at 9:12 AM88 loo - Okay, I get it now, the 88/ba ba is the phonetic of bye-bye, I can work with that. And the 6/liu/lou/le is a CHINESE phonetic of 了, nothing to do with English pronunciation of bye-bye. Just acting as the change aspect function that 了 has. So to be clear, what we're doing is taking English, converting part of it's meaning and part of it's sounds to a coded number system in Chinese, which is loosely associated with various sounds, including regional accents, in an effort to be more brief in chatting and be so cryptic, throwing in parts of Chinese grammar, also coded, as to keep grandpa from knowing I am being all lovey-duvy with someone....LOL. 88!
