November 6, 2007 at 3:48 AMFISH - What's to be scared off when there is lots of hanzi, this is the digital age, teach people to fish, where does fear come from? http://www.adsotrans.com/ One can easily copy and paste any Chinese characters into this site, and it will give you pop-up pinyin and English. Why doesn't Cpod have a little "translate/give pinyin field" within these comment pages, say right underneath the photo to make life easier? Where is the "button" that I could hit on these comment pages to have it process for me all the various hanzi that people comment with? 生意怎么样？！ Question about the English title, would anyone ever really "say" that, I'd say "How's business?" I think a lot of Chinese speak like Spock because nobody teaches them to use the contraction form in spoken English.

October 28, 2007 at 3:55 AM偶尔 - Could we have a specific Cpod lessons on this. In my experience it's not even really covered in textbooks, or in listings of "frequency" words like 常常。。。 I only saw one reference in an advanced lesson from the search. "Ou er" however is definitely frequently used in spoken conversation. Is it just me though, it sounds distinctly kinda non-Chinese sounding to me? Is there some weird etymology for it? GEEKING - I learned A LOT of Chinese while having a repair guy over to fix my computer one day. "System" 系统 xi tong is very helpful in a wide range of subjects in daily conversations! ANTI - I also have this Chinese version of an anti-virus program on my computer now, but the popup messages it gives me are quite cryptic to me, here's a request for a lesson on typical computer pop-up messages, you know, stuff like "delete this", "are you sure", "accept", "cancel"...等等。

November 8, 2007 at 4:02 PM@ - measure words. I was thinking, is there a way in google or Yahoo to do a search where I get results for a word, plus the word before it. For example, in my Chinese/English electronic dictionary by Pleco, I can put in the @ symbol to get the first part of the combo for two-hanzi word pairs. I ask b/c I have yet to find a way to look up measure words. Tonight I wanted to say a pair of eyeglasses, but I have no idea what the measure word for eyeglasses is. And it doesn't fit so neatly into the measure words I do know, it's not 家 量 etc...
