In the mainland we say 布什 (Bùshí), which interestingly, loses all the possible positive connotations that might be associated with 希 (xī). I think that would be reading a bit too much into it, though... 希 (xī) is frequently used in transliterations on both sides of the strait.

August 30, 2007 at 6:38 AMThis one was easy because (1) Dave's clues, despite being a bit misleading at first, were way too obvious at the end, and (2) all of our listeners have the entire internet at their disposal to help them translate/search. August 29, 2007 at 8:46 AMNo problem. Flash can be tricky with regards to cache. Our staff here has had to become much more "cache conscious" in order to deal with just this kind of thing.

August 29, 2007 at 8:32 AMfoleadu, Did you try refreshing and clearing your cache (CTRL-SHIFT-DEL)? I use Firefox (ver. 2.0.0.6), and I can't duplicate your problem. The fact that you're having a problem which we already fixed (and that I can't duplicate it) suggests to me that you have old files in your cache.

September 5, 2007 at 2:09 AMMark, Try closing your browser and then opening it again. We have auto-login enabled now, but the Home page doesn't always update immediately for the current session. As far as I know, there's no way to batch mark lessons as studied. Sorry! We'll add that to the list of requested features.
