Yes Memrise is a great resource. I've used it for French and all the mnemonics they have helps learn new vocab.

Hi Mingmao, our glossary has 3 sentences (and lessons) with this phrase in it. Hopefully they will give you a broader context on all the situations you can use it in. There are also more examples here

Both mean the Chinese language (中文/汉语). 文 wén is a more general term for language in general (written/spoken/grammar) and 语 yǔ is generally more focused on the spoken aspect of the language.

Hi Tony,

Thank you for spotting that typo. 通 is indeed first tone. We have corrected it on our end and it should update on the site and notes by this evening.

Hey ahmadayaz,

This lesson was written by a Chinese teacher from Hangzhou. The language used in this lesson is used most Chinese speaking regions. Most of our lessons are written by Chinese Chinese teachers so you need not worry too much about the language leaning to much towards a particular region.

Fi :)

Hi Sean,

I actually consulted the Chinese teacherthat wrote this lesson before recoding, as I was a little confused as to what was used to dry the cards. I initially thought they may have chucked the cards in the tumble dryer also!

This activity was actually something she did in her class with her students a few weeks ago. She said it was a special device that was shaped like a box with a round opening that blew hot air out. It was not a hair dryer. As there was no official name for the device she used the term 烘干机.

The term literally means ‘the machine that drys things', it just so happens the tumble dryer is a common household appliance, so it's totally natural that both you and I thought of it. But it is also natural that she chose that term as it explained her device best.

Hey Adam,

Great idea. I'll run it by Constance and see what she suggests. I've added it to our Qing Request list :)
