October 28, 2020 at 1:34 PMHello, thank you for the good question!
There should be a tone change in 一只. Because 只 is first tone (只 is pronounced as zhī when used as a measure word), 一 would turn into fourth tone, becoming [yì zhī].
Hope this helps!

October 27, 2020 at 2:11 PMHello, very good question!
Chinese for "Clothes are not edible." or "Clothes can not be eaten" is 衣服不能吃.
The word 能 can be used in a passive way when you want to express if an object is able to be "used" in a certain way. For example, if I say, 这屋子不能住, what I mean is "This house is not livable" or "This house is not comfortable enough for me to live in".
Hope this helps!

October 26, 2020 at 3:14 PMHello, thank you very much for the feedback! The Qingwen lessons usually contains more English as it's not a regular dialogue lesson. And the hosts definitely enjoyed it very much, perhaps that's why the dialogue went too fast for you!

October 26, 2020 at 3:03 PMHi Matija,
This is a good question!
Let's look at the first one:
"wǒmen méiyǒu jiǔ."
This sentence is a simple negation, and it just means "We don't have alcohol". It implies that they have never had alcohol in the first place.
"wǒmen méiyǒu jiǔ le."
With the 了 [le] at the end, it represents a change of state. This sentence means "We don't have alcohol anymore". It can be understood as "We used to have alcohol, but now we don't".
Hope this helps!
