I understand the challenges you are facing. I suggest that you look up animations of the character writing on the following website to make it easier to memorize.
Another tip is to understand the radicals of the characters and learn about their individual components. We have a course called 88 characters where we introduced 88 simple and important Chinese characters through storytelling: https://www.chinesepod.com/courses/986
Daily practice of writing is indeed helpful, but be mindful that a full understanding of the characters is required to remember the characters in the long run.
