I've noticed many people (both in England and Australia where I now live) pronounce it pro-NOUN-ciation. I'd guess doing so gives them a feeling of cognitive ease (it feels 'right', whereas the correct form seems incongruous compared to what you would expect). Languages are constantly evolving things after all, and if enough people believe it's correct then it becomes correct.
Anyway, regardless of whether it is a mistake it's certainly not something most people would call you out on (gallienus being the .0001%).

Yeah I also thought it meant "I'll keep it and take myself." Glad I read the transcript!
So 阿司匹林我留着 means 阿司匹林我留在这里 not "I'll keep it"?
And, you can say "我...自己..." and the the 自己 is referring to another person. That is so super confusing.

"But I would guess that most Chinese people wouldn't understand the
punchlines on American talk shows or even find them offensive."
这个句子翻译的不太对!我猜你是想表达观众可能接受不了美国的脱口秀，可是这个英文句子的意思（对我来说）是"Wouldn't...even find them offensive"。你必须在even之前加一个"might" 或者"may"才对。

Frankly I am shocked that John doesn't know what cordyceps fungus is...he seems so geeky normally (that was a compliment btw)
If you YouTube it (or whatever is the chinese equivalent) you will see that the chinese name is very apt indeed!
